Chinese-In-Africa: Woman strangled at China Market
Johannesburg - The body of a Chinese woman was found covered by a heap of boxes at a warehouse after a robbery at China Market in Crown Mines on Thursday, Johannesburg police said.
Security guards, who had been monitoring their cameras and keeping guard on her while she offloaded stock in the warehouse, were alarmed when she suddenly was nowhere to be seen, said Inspector Lorraine van Emmerick.
“They went to check in the warehouse but could not find her and alerted the police who arrived at the scene around 17:15. They found her lying under a heap of boxes.”
The woman, who was an employee in one of the shops that sells bags at China Market, was strangled with a packaging bag and her feet and hands were bound, Van Emmerick said.
The woman’s killers got away with a safe consisting of an undisclosed amount of money, she said.
“Security personnel never saw the murder happening. No arrests have since been made but police are investigating.”
